Function Fabrication is headed up by Leigh Crawford, whose passion for what he does began while watching his dad fabricate metal as a child.

“I’ve been a tradesman all my life. I started my apprenticeship at 18 doing high-precision fabrication work for the research industry at Melbourne University. Then I spent 12 years in mining and heavy industry in Western Australia.”
In 2013, Leigh started Consolidated Group – a client-focused civil earthworks and plant hire service – with his business partner. They have been resourcing the mining, government, transport and construction sectors ever since. With their continued success, Consolidated Group extended into Queensland and set up a Sunshine Coast department offering the same quality service in all areas.
Leigh’s experience in mining, heavy industry and Australian standards and engineering specifications enable him to provide safe and cost-effective solutions for our valued clients.
His background in managing fleets in remote areas has given Leigh the skills to design and construct water truck vehicles that are ideal for civil works in the mining, government, transport and construction sectors.
In 2021, Leigh decided it was time to bring his love for steel fabrication to life on the Sunshine Coast. Along with a hand-picked team of skilled fabricators, Function Fabrication works with Sunshine Coast builders looking for quality workmanship, attention to detail and great customer service.
